Important deals today!
Most important - Groupon is doing a deal to benefit Everybody Wins! South Florida, the literacy and mentoring organization where I work. Please get the deal for just $8 to support matching second and third graders with reading mentors. We need 40 people to do the deal in order to reach the tipping point. The best part is that Groupon absorbs all of the credit card fees so 100% of your purchase will go directly to benefit students.

Change for a Change
This is one of my favorites of all the blog posts I read all week. It doesn't have the pretty pictures, or crafty tutorials, but it offers a simple guide to make a difference. Each week Zeal for a Deal posts a Change for a Change post. Here's this week's Publix. This week is a good week since you can get a lot even if you only use the printable coupons. Please check it out and find out how you can make a difference by picking up $35 worth of groceries for just $3.72.
Great fodder for that donation box!
Thanks so much Zeal for a Deal for helping us all do some good.

Freebie for the dog lovers
If you "like" Alpo on Facebook, you can have a free can of dog food mailed to you. I don't have a dog, but for the 30 seconds it takes me to type my address.... this one is going in my donation box.
Oh, and the dog food looks kind of gross to me, so I'm sparing you and including a cute puppy picture instead!

Stamp Out Hunger
Tomorrow is the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive!
It could not be any easier to donate food. Simply leave non-perishable (preferably not in glass jars) food by your mail box tomorrow and your letter carrier will pick it up.
So, right now, go through that donation box and pull out any food goods. Look in your cabinets or pantry (lucky!) for that can of soup that you bought ages ago and are never in the mood to eat. Whether it is one item or a whole bagful, leave it by the mailbox and it will go to someone in need. Then, stand up a little straighter all day knowing you did something good.

This mystery donation box
Yesterday I saw myself referencing this donation box concept a few times and so I want to dedicate a post to the idea.
These opportunities are a great, free, and easy way to have an impact. Just make a point to pick up the freebies when you are at the store. They are generally at places like CVS or Walgreens where you might make a weekly stop anyhow. Keep a donation box at home and use it for the items you won't use. Already have 12 tubes of toothpaste? Toss the two new free ones in the donation box. Picked up pantiliners because they were free, but don't use them? Donation box it is! You get the idea. When the box fills up, drop it off and start over.
If you have been reading this blog, or others, you know that there are often such easy freebies available. Just so far this month we have talked about free toothpaste, calcium supplements, razors, canned food, and pantiliners.

They often will take toiletries and other donations and make sure they are given to those in need. Need more help? If you stick to this, I want to make it as easy as possible. Send me an email with your location and I will find you a place to make your donation!

Free calcium
Sadly, this is in pill form and not ice cream form like most of the free calcium I share. However, the good news is you get all the calcium without any of the calories!
If you "like" Walgreens on Facebook, you can print a coupon for $5 off of Nature Made Calcium. The 100 count bottles are apparently just under $5, so you should be able to pick one up for free.
Be nice to your bones and get it for yourself, or be nice to a stranger and put it in your donation box.

Before you recycle
Do you get a Sunday paper? Before you recycle it, go through the coupons and clip the one for a free 18-22 count package of Carefree pantiliners. It's too easy to pass up, and if this isn't a product you use toss it in your donation box (What! You haven't started one yet?). And, if you get the paper, but don't quite have couponing down yet, you might want to give it a try. Inspiration: yesterday I got $12.84 worth of bodywash for 42 cents.
Also, you can request a free sample and coupon from Carefree at their website.

Como se dice "razor"?
You can get a free Gillette Fusion razor by texting "Prueba" to 59999.
The prompts will all be in Spanish, but are very simple. Respond with your age to the first prompt and your name and address to the second. Your free razor will arrive in 6-8 weeks.
And, yes, after 3 years of high school Spanish, I google translated prueba. It seems to mean test/trial/demonstration/proof and other words along those lines.

Free food, Bam!
You can get Emeril's Bam Meals free at Publix right now. The Bam Meals are on sale 5/$5 (same as 1/$1) and there are $1 off printable coupons available on Emeril's site.
Even if this is not something you would eat, it's always great to take any opportunity to pick up free canned food. So easy to donate to a local food bank or homeless shelter.

Never pay for....
Toothpaste! This is a little more difficult if you are picky and only buy a specific toothpaste, but I am here to tell you that it could be worth trying something new.
Nearly every week there is a deal where you can get free toothpaste at one of the drugstores. Right now, I have six sitting under my bathroom sink, which will last me for ages. But, how can I pass up free (or even money makers?), so I keep getting more and donating them.
This week, free toothpaste is at CVS. Colgate Maxclean, Smartfoam, MaxWhite or MaxFresh 6 oz is $2.77, and then you get $2.77 back in Extra Care Bucks. Deal limit: 2, so grab them both.
Other hot deals at CVS this week:
Get $1 in Extra Care Bucks when you buy three bags of Frito-Lay chips, and the individual size bags are on sale, 3/$1. Deal limit: 5 (which means 15 free bags!)
Get $1 in ECB when you buy Charmin - includes Charmin Basic 12 roll pack. Deal limit: 1
Get $5 in ECB when you buy 2 DSW $25 gift cards. Deal limit: 1
