Breakfast anytime

Today is National Pancake Day.

And, to celebrate, IHOP is offering a free short stack of pancakes between 7 am and 10 pm.  All that they ask is that you make a donation to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. 

CMNH is the group you see with the balloons in Publix where you can give a dollar and put your name on the balloon.  You know what I'm talking about!  Well, in Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties every one of those benefits Miami Children's Hospital.  Same thing with the IHOP event.  Every donation comes right back here to help kids in our backyard.  If you aren't in South Florida, I don't know which hospitals you help, but it's still a great cause.

I have been slacking. On posting and on my deals for me too. This past week, I only did one small Publix run. But, i have to admit, it was a good one!


I walked in with two coupons, my keys, and my phone. I walked out with two bags of lettuce, two bananas, 47 cents, my keys, and my phone.

Another great shop

I realized on my way home today that I hadn't done my CVS shop for the week.  Good thing that I didn't just skip it!

I got 3 Hershey bars and 6 packs of Trident Layers gum.

The total for all of that was $2.36.  I used $1.99 of Extra Care Bucks, paid 37 cents, and got $1 back in Extra Care Bucks!


Here's how it worked:


I had a free coupon for a Hershey aerated bar, and then scanned my card to print a free coupon for a Caramello.  (They were out of both, so I was able to substitute for other Hershey bars).  All Hershey bars were buy 2 (free ones count) get 1 free.  That's 3 free chocolate bars!


Trident gum was on sale for 99 cents a pack.  I had two coupons for $2 off of 3.  So, 6 for $1.94.


The difference was tax (I guess Florida doesn't consider that list to be "food").  Dollar back?  Fourth shop on the green bag tag.

End of an era

I know that I tend to focus this blog on South Florida, but here's a freebie that made me sad...

Perfect timing, I'm headed back to visit St. Louis soon.  Only, I went to sign up, using my college zip, I learned the very sad news that there are no longer any Del Tacos in St. Louis.  So disappointing!  I guess I will have to travel to Orlando to get my big fat chicken taco and macho diet coke fix.


In the meantime, I hope that someone reading this can take advantage!

There's a new way to read Kindle books for free!


Amazon announced today that they are rolling out free browser enabled reading.  So, if you have Chrome or Safari, you can now read right on your computer.  Other browsers are coming soon.  Read more about it here.


Also, the Kindle apps for phones still exist.  They are also free and I love mine!
